Europæisk Middelalder Festival

Music for every taste

30. juli 2012

This year, bands such as DonnerTrummel, Musica Vulgaris and Triskillian from Germany, Gny, Ramashang and Virelai from Denmark, Rebule from The Czech Republic, Tryzna from Poland and Vagando from Sweden will be performing at the European Medieval Festival.

Medieval music is both festive and folkloric, and from three stages at the European Medieval Festival, merry tunes made by talented performers will be bursting out. With authentic instruments, musical stories, love songs and drinking songs from long forgotten times, the performing musicians provide the atmosphere at European Medieval Festival.

The music is heavily inspired by techniques and lyrics which have historical roots in the middle ages. It is played on authentic replicas of medieval instruments such as the hurdy-gurdy, davul, bag pipes, and whistles, drums, and horns.

The sound of these once common instruments is very distinct and it is a unique experience to hear them being played by skilled musicians in a truly medieval setting. After their performances the musicians are often keen to answer questions and tell you more about their unique instruments and their take on medieval music.
