Europæisk Middelalder Festival

Nordic Network of Medieval Festivals

The Nordic Network of Medieval Festivals was founded on January 12, 2012 by the European Medieval Festival, Medeltidsveckan of Gotland, Sweden, and Tønsberg Middelalderfestival and Re Middelalderdager in Norway. The purpose of this collaboration is to exchange experience, ideas, and knowledge.

The four festivals are very different – some are small, big, old, and new. It is hoped that the collaboration can extend to benefit the participants directly, e.g. by working with musical groups, jesters, knights, etc. who want to perform at several participating festivals or by helping local associations to visit other festivals with their camps to educate and interact with new audiences and participants. In time, the festivals expect to organise annual conferences with lectures and workshops about festival development.

Feel free to contact project coordinator Iben Høgh Grøftehauge to learn more and possibly establish a contact with other festivals in the network.
