Europæisk Middelalder Festival

Activities for children

The festival was full of activities for children of all ages.

The European Medieval Festival had archery, a medieval school, squire training and an area devoted to medieval games – not to mention the many impressive encampments with opportunities to speak with the re-enactors or maybe try on a suit of armour. There were real-life wolfhounds, ponies, birds of prey, pigs, goats and rabbits in addition to many working craftsmen that let children experience the old trades and perhaps try their hand at forging with the blacksmith or whittling with the carpenter.

You could come across many authentic medieval games around the market. You could challenge your family to giant tic-tac-toe, walking on stilts or "Spanish Knight". Roving jesters and theatre troupes performed where and when you least expected it, and the gallows, the pillory and the wooden horse provide popular photo opportunities.

And for once, it was okay to eat with your fingers!
